Movie Night at AIMC: I am Not Your Negro

June 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

AIMC’s Diversity and Equity Committee (DEC) is sponsoring a series of 4 monthly films that showcase individuals who have transformed us through their embodiment of courage, wholeheartedness, and dedication to a just and equitable world.

In recognition of Juneteenth, the series will start with, I Am Not Your Negro, a film that envisions the book James Baldwin never finished, a narration about race in America, using the writer’s original words, as read by actor Samuel L. Jackson.

Including a wealth of rich archival material, the film draws upon Baldwin’s notes on the lives and assassinations of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr. to explore and bring a fresh and radical perspective to the current racial narrative in America.

There will be an optional discussion period after the film.

Bring your own chairs if you wish, and whatever you need to be comfy.
